One of the most gratifying days of my life as a photographer happened while deck-handing on my parents’ troller in Southeast AK. We found a great fishing spot… and so did a group of about eight humpback whales. For about a day and a half, we had the privilege of watching “bubble-net feeding†all around us. I figured out how to predict when they would all come up together, so I would stop fishing, pick up my camera, wait for the right moment, and then fire away as soon as the whales would surface. I will never forget that day.
